WHAT IS A REIKI SESSION ?
What is a Reiki Session ?

If you are need of healing then you may schedule a Reiki Session with one of our Reiki Masters. Most practitioners work out of their homes or out of our center. However, some practitioners are flexible and may be able to come to you.

Reiki sessions usually last from sixty to ninety minutes. You will need to show up five to ten minutes prior to your scheduled session time. When you arrive at the office of the practitioner, you will be greeted and asked to fill out a patient information form. The practitioner will start the session by asking you a few questions about yourself and then will usually provide a brief explanation of what Reiki is and then will describe the dynamics of a session. Reiki can be performed sitting up or laying down. Usually practitioners prefer that the patient lay down (on a message table) as most people can relax more deeply in a horizontal position. Unlike a massage session, all Reiki sessions are preformed fully clothed. During the session you will be treated to soothing music, incense, and soft lighting. Once the session starts, the practitioner will place their hands two to four inches above you and slowing move them over your body. They will place their hands on your head and on your feet. Make sure that you inform the practitioner if you have specific areas that need attention. The practitioner may ask permission to place their hands on these areas that you have directed them to. If the area is sensitive, then you may request that the practitioner not touch that area. Some practitioners may chant while performing Reiki. If this bothers you, then you should let them know this (most will ask ahead of time). During a Reiki session you may experience a feeling of warmth from the hands of the practitioner (this is normal). If the heat becomes excessive, then notify the practitioner of this. During the session you may also experience a gurgling in your intestines or a drop in body temperature as your body relaxes. If you become chilly then inform the practitioner and they will place an extra sheet on top of you. Most practitioners usually keep extra sheets on hand for this purpose. During the session the practitioner may ask you to participate by performing some visualization exercises, or repeating positive affirmations. If an emotional issue surfaces during the treatment don稚 be afraid to experience it and release it. This is part of the healing process. The practitioner always keeps a box of tissues within reach for just such occasion. This is a safe and healing time, what you say will be held in confidence and what you experience is between you and the practitioner. During the session you will experience deep sense of relaxation. As your body begins to experience healing in one area, you may become aware of other areas that need healing. If this happens, then communicate this to the practitioner so that they may address these areas as well. Finally, as part of the healing process, your body will begin to rid itself of toxins that have built up. For this reason, you will usually be asked to drink plenty of water for two to four days after a session. During this cleansing process you may experience cold like symptoms such as a runny nose, a change in the color of your urine, or softening of your stools. This is your body痴 way of cleaning itself.

Remember that this is your session and you have come to search out healing. Reiki does not depend on your faith. This modality of healing has proven effective in clinics and healing centers all across the world.
